Transportation Options:

There are many different public transportation options in and around Jamaica Plain, including multiple bus stops and bus routes. Additionally, there are many T-stops surrounding Jamaica Plain so people can easily get to the city and then get around once they are there:

– The T-Stop on the Green Line is: Heath Street

– The T-stops on the Orange Line are: Stony Brook, Jackson Square, and Forest Hills


Transportation to and from Mt. Pleasant Home:

There is a simple 9-minute bus route between Jamaica Plain and the Mt. Pleasant Home.

The Mt. Pleasant Home is a retirement community for adults 62 years and older. Mt. Pleasant Home is located in Jamaica Plain and was opened in 1901. Mt. Pleasant Home is trying to give residents the best quality of life and as close to a normal life and community as possible in the home. The residents are quite independent but will receive more care as needed.


History of Transportation in Jamaica Plain:

One of the earliest roads used for transportation through Jamaica Plain is Center Street, which at the time it was built was called Dedham Road, was constructed in 1663 and was connected to Boston and Providence.

Another important road is Washington Street, which was built in 1803. When built, it was called The Norfolk and Bristol Turnpike and also connected to Boston and Pawtucket as well as Rhode Island.
